Annual compliance is a set of related tasks, not one universal form. Companies need to assess financial-statement preparation, audit, meetings, annual financial filings, annual return and tax obligations for the relevant year. Event-based filings may apply in addition to the annual package. [1] [2]

Prepare reliable books first

Reconcile bank accounts, receipts, expenses, receivables, payables, fixed assets, loans, capital and related-party transactions. Identify missing vouchers and balances requiring confirmation. A filing service cannot responsibly replace unresolved accounting records with estimated figures solely to meet an advertised price.

Coordinate the filing sequence

Agree responsibility for accounts approval, audit documentation, meeting records and the correct annual forms. Verify current forms, deadlines and extensions for the actual company. Separately review income-tax and GST work. Keep acknowledgements and the final signed documents, not just a screenshot showing payment.

Practical preparation checklist

  • Year-end reconciled books and supporting schedules.
  • Audit/governance and meeting preparation.
  • Applicable AOC-4 and MGT-7/MGT-7A assessment.
  • Separate tax returns, event filings and acknowledgements.

Illustrative example

A company changes directors and issues shares during the year. An annual filing package does not automatically cover those event filings. Recording the changes when they occur avoids discovering missing compliance only during year-end work.

Avoid this mistake

Do not assume a single “annual compliance” price includes bookkeeping, statutory audit, tax audit, GST, notices and all events. Ask for a written scope, transaction limits and responsibility list. Any additional government or late charges should be disclosed separately.
